Write Through the Bible

Looking for a review of Write Through the Bible copywork?

We’ve been homeschooling since 2007, and I’ve discovered and ditched a few curricula in the past decade.

Every year is an adventure, and this year has been one of tweaking what hasn’t worked, and finding new favorites.

I’ve been getting our homeschool curricula lined out for the upcoming school year, and want to share a little about the Scripture copywork we love, love, love.

This is definitely a favorite that we’re sticking with!

I discovered Write Through the Bible curriculum a few years ago when I received a free printable in a homeschool bundle.

I checked it out online and was super impressed with the variety of packets, as well as the Bible translation options to choose from.

We favor the KJV around here, and in the end, having that as an option is what sold me on Write Through the Bible. (There’s a little old-fashioned confession for you.)

I bought a bundle of copywork to last us through the school year, and I absolutely loved it!  It’s was a great fit for my fifth-grade daughter(My fifth-grade daughter who has never liked copywork, by the way!)

When Trisha and Luke Gilkerson (creators of the Write Through the Bible curriculum) announced the release of Write Through the Bible, Junior in 2015, I got really excited!

A Scripture-based copywork curriculum for young children!  Oh happy day!

I think I literally did a happy dance the day my review copy arrived in the mail!

Our four-year old, Colton, was pretty excited too! (You can tell by the expression on his cute little face, right?)

Colton had just started preschool, so having his very own Write Through the Bible, Junior workbook sort of made that status  really official, you know?

Here are a few quick things about the Write Through the Bible, Junior curriculum:

  • It is designed for kids, ages 4 to 6 years old, definitely on target for young ones who are ready to begin developing their fine motor skills.  The original Write Through the Bible workbooks are great for older kids.
  • The 423-page workbook covers an entire school year (four days per week for 31 weeks). I’ve found the daily lessons to be very young-child and busy-mama-friendly.
  • Copywork lessons are built around learning letter strokes and memorizing Scripture. The review copy I received features the ESV version, but the KJV workbook is available too.
  • The workbooks are available in three fonts: Ball and Stick (the most simple form), D’Nealian Manuscript (prep for cursive), and Cursive.

We really loved this workbook, and Colton felt pretty special having his very own “big book” to write in.

Here’s a quick tip from Trisha:

If you find the big book to be too cumbersome, you can always take the book to an office supply store (like Staples) and have them cut the binding off and hole punch the pages for you to store in a 3-ring binder.

That way, you can take out one page at a time for your child and not deal with the big book.”

Either way, we love these fun pages!

That’s completely up to you!
