Natural Antibiotic for a Sinus Infection

I’ve always been somewhat prone to sinus infections.

For years, I found myself fighting off bouts of clogged sinuses, headaches, stuffy nose, sore throat, aching ears and fever every few months.

Thanks to the power of natural medicine, I have been blessed to avoid a trip to the doctor’s office for antibiotics to overcome a sinus infection.

In this post, I’m going to share my personal experience with using natural antibiotics to overcome sickness.

Please keep in mind that I am not a health practitioner, and I do not give medical advice or make medical claims.

In addition to using holistic medicine at home, our family is blessed with excellent care from medical professionals. Always use wisdom in choosing the best approach for treating sickness.

Now, let’s talk about the natural antibiotic I have used to treat my sinus infections!

Because of it’s potent infection-fighting properties, grapefruit seed extract has been a mainstay in our house for many years.

The last time I dealt with a sinus infection, I discovered a powerful product by Solaray: Grapefruit Seed Extract Yeast-Fighting Formula.

In addition to grapefruit seed extract, Soloray’s product contains other yeast-and-infection-fighting supplements, such as oregano, pau d’arco, and 1 billion microorganisms of L. Acidophilus.

This is powerful stuff!

I took this product as directed: two capsules three times daily.

Within 24 hours, my fever was gone and my sore throat and earaches had improved drastically.

Twelve hours later, every symptom had all but disappeared. I nearly felt back to “normal.”

Due to its potency, Grape Fruit Seed Extract is not recommended for pregnant or nursing mothers.

Also use caution if giving it to children, as the high citrus content can upset their tummies.

For my children, and during times of pregnancy or breastfeeding, I love the gentle yet powerful antibiotic properties of Colloidal Silver and Olive Leaf.

Next time you feel a sinus infection coming on, I encourage you to give Grapefruit Seed Extract a chance.

I highly recommend Solary’s yeast-fighting Grapefruit Seed Extract formula if you’re in need of a little extra punch.

Look for it in the refrigerated section at your local health store, or order it online from Amazon.

Have you ever used Grapefruit seed extract?

  2. According to the book Herbal Antibiotics, caution is advised during pregnancy.

I have taken grapefruit seed extract during pregnancy, but not in large doses.

A very effective and completely safe natural antibiotic is Colloidal Silver. Taken at a dose of 1 TBSP every 2 hrs, it is highly effective. It isn’t hard on the digestive tract like Grapefruit Seed Extract. 🙂 I have added it to the water solution in my Neti Pot to help kill off infection in the sinuses.

Elderberry is also safe during pregnancy, although not as potent as grapefruit seed extract or colloidal silver.

  3. I see here that you take it while you are breastfeeding, do you think it would be safe to take during pregnancy? I had a horrible sinus infection turned bad head, throat, ears and upper respiratory cold last week! I had to sleep it off, due to the fact that I am 8 weeks pregnant and won’t take anything for it. I also think antibiotics are overused. I was using a neti pot but, I would like something that works from the inside out (like the infection does). I hadn’t heard of this before. Have you used it or know someone who has used it during pregnancy? Thanks! 🙂
