Why is it so fun to read about another mom’s homeschool curriculum?
I love seeing what other homeschoolers are using for their kids!
If you enjoy it too, here’s a peek at our homeschool curriculum for preschool through junior high.
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, then you probably already know that my husband and I are blessed with five kids, who are all school age this year.
(You can check out my other posts on homeschooling preschool through junior high right here.)
Here’s what homeschooling looks like for us in each of these grades:
Preschool:
I devoted an entire post to homeschooling a preschooler, so I won’t unpack all that particulars again. (You can read it here, if you missed it.)
I will say, I absolutely love the sweet little preschool years!
Our youngest child, Caleb, is four years old he loves doing school along with his older siblings.
This year, we’re enjoying Time4Learning preschool, along with Rod and Staff preschool workbooks and lots of hands-on learning games and toys.

Caleb loves his preschool workbooks! This is our first year to use Rod and Staff for preschool, and so far we are loving it.
If Caleb keeps up his current pace with his preschool, I plan to start him in My Father’s World kindergarten in January.
(You can read my full review on My Father’s World kindergarten here.)
Second Grade:
Our seven-year old son, Colton, is in second grade this year.
Right now, Colton is doing the following for his school work:
- Reading Horizons (phonics and reading)
- Language Lessons for Today, 2nd grade (for language arts)
- Math U See
- Write Through the Bible (copywork)
- for history and science, Colton enjoys books from the library and read aloud times with me

This is our first year to use Math U See curriculum, and we REALLY like it!

I’m a big fan of Write Through the Bible!
Fourth Grade:
Our oldest son, Keith, is in fourth grade this year.
Like most boys, Keith is super active and prefers physical activity over academics. 😀
Here’s what Keith is doing for fourth grade:
- Language Lessons for Today, 4th grade (language arts)
- Math U See
- Write Through the Bible (copywork)
- History and Science- Audible stories and read aloud books with me
- Reading– this year Keith is enrolled in reading therapy at a local University Model Christian school. He has classes, along with his sister Emily, three times each week.

I absolutely adore Learning Lessons for Today, a Charlotte Mason-inspired language arts curriculum.

Both Keith and Amy have earned their red stripes and are working on their Yellow belts!
Keith is taking piano again this year (his second year), and we recently enrolled him in a Christian Soldiers Karate class on Fridays. He loves that!
Sixth Grade:
Miss Emily, our eleven year old daughter, is in sixth grade this year.
Emily is doing the following:
- Language Lessons for Today, sixth grade (language arts)
- Math U See
- Write Through the Bible (copywork)
- chapter books for extra reading each day
- we took a break this semester from spelling but in January she will pick up with Sequential Spelling
- History and Science– read aloud books with me

Emily is in her fourth year of taking piano lessons, and this year we enrolled her in a performing arts class on Fridays. She loves to sing!
Eighth Grade:
Our oldest daughter, Amy, is thirteen and in her last year of junior high this year.
This girl is an avid reader and keeps me on my toes as a homeschooling mom!
Here’s what Amy is doing for eighth grade this school year:
- Spanish with Rosetta Stone (through Time4Learning)
- Language Arts (Time4Learning)
- Math U See
- Apologia science
- History- weekly books and reports
- Write Through the Bible (copywork)
- we’re taking a break from spelling this semester, but in January Amy will pick back up with Sequential Spelling
Amy is also enrolled in Karate this year, and is in her seventh year with piano lessons.
In addition to school work, Amy is very active with her horse, Lightening, and enjoys being outdoors.

As I am new to homeschooling I was a bit stuck about the curriculum for my children. Your blog has helped me out. Thanks once again. And keep writing such blogs which really help other mom like me.
