This post: how to wear dresses (for nursing moms).

Dresses for nursing moms.
Sounds mutually exclusive, right?
That’s what I used to think!
—> In this post, I’m going to show you how to choose and style dresses for nursing or pregnant moms.
First, a little about me: I’m a mom of five, so I’ve been around the block with pregnancy and nursing quite a few times.
I love wearing dresses, but I hated that my choices were so limited once my babies were born and I began breastfeeding.
During my third pregnancy, I discovered a hack that literally doubled or tripled my post partum wardrobe.
The secret?
If you’re new HalfTee, I’m so pleased to introduce you!
This wardrobe staple kept breastfeeding and fashion on good terms for me.

Why HalfTees are Ideal for Pregnant and Nursing Moms:
Since they’re a cropped cami, you don’t have to worry about running out of room because of a growing tummy.
The really, really good news is that you can just kept wearing your Half Tees after your baby is born.
Unlike most camis that get in the way during breastfeeding, Half Tees are wonderful for nursing moms; they make building a nursing-friendly wardrobe completely hassle-free and versatile.
Here’s how to wear the HalfTee with maxi dresses when you’re breastfeeding:
#1 Grab your favorite nursing-friendly maxi dress.
I opted for wrap-front dresses for easy access; dresses that button up the front work too.
Here are a few ideas:

Fashion note: Most of the maxi dresses shown in this post are from Pink Blush, an online company that specializes in women’s maternity and post-pregnancy fashions. They have hundreds of beautiful nursing-friendly dresses, tops, and more.

#2 Choose your HalfTee.
HalfTees come in nearly every color and variety you can imagine, and are available in sizes xsmall through curvy (4x to 6x-large).
Stock up on at least two neutral colored Half Tees to get you started.
I like the Boyfriend HalfTee for sleeveless maxi dresses.
The cap sleeve HalfTee is great for dresses that simply need a higher neckline.
You can choose whatever sleeve length and neckline you need- there are lots of options with Halftees.

In warm weather, I simply paired a HalfTee with a favorite maxi dress and slipped on a pair of sandals.
In cooler months, I liked to layer with shrugs, cropped denim jackets, and scarves to add variety to my maxi dresses.
I didn’t wear belts as often, especially when my babies were really young since it made nursing a little more of a hassle.
It really is THAT simple to wear maxi dresses when you’re breastfeeding!
Just grab your favorite pre-pregnancy maxi and pair it with a HalfTee, and you’re good to go.
No hassle, no bulky layers, and no pulling at low-cut necklines all day long.
It really is simple to dress with class, comfort and modesty.

I never thought of wearing a wrap maxi dress while nursing. My sister-in-law recently found out that she is expecting her first baby and is hoping to be able to nurse. I will have to keep these dresses in mind for her after the baby comes.
Oh, I hope she loves them! This expands your post-pregnancy wardrobe SO much!
Thanks for reading and commenting. xoxo
You look so beautiful, Kristy! Love the dresses!
Thank you, Jill, you’re so sweet!
I don’t have many maxi dresses but did find some at Walmart, of all places, that I can nurse in! I got a larger size so it wouldn’t be tight and have to slip my arm out of one side. It’s just a bit more complicated, but with half tees, it’s not too hard at all!
I love the “boyfriend” length sleeve as well, but I wish they had one that is in between the boyfriend and the cap sleeve. I’m so picky. 😉
Finding a dress that works for nursing is a big plus in my book!
Great post! I just had a baby and feel like I’m constantly in a state of undress while wearing maxis due to nursing. I had heard of half tees before, but never this actual brand. The ones I’ve seen were very expensive, so this seems like a much better option. Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome, Amy! I’ve become a big fan of Half Tee’s!
