If you’ve been following this blog lately, you might have noticed that I’ve been a bit MIA the past few weeks.
I promise I haven’t fallen off the planet!
But, boy, has life been busy.
True to my all-or-nothing nature, I’ve been ignoring my blog because I’ve felt too busy to keep up with writing every single week.
If I can’t do it all the time, why do it at all, right? 🙂
This morning, I took advantage of waking up extra early and popped in to check the blog comments readers have left lately.
After spending about thirty minutes reading and responding to comments, I decided it was high time to update this blog and let my online friends know what I’ve been up to.
And why I sort of disappeared in the middle of our More Productive You series.
What I’ve Been Up To
I traveled quite a bit in April, including a trip to Illinois to teach a workshop at a women’s retreat, and a trip to Corpus Christi, Texas (where I grew up) to speak at a women’s conference.
I squeezed in a few other trips as well, and learned two things:
- I do love to travel!
- Traveling is tough on homeschooling moms.
In May, I had to hustle to finish up our home schooling year. We still have a few more loose ends to wrap up, but for the most part we’re enjoying a summer-long break from school work. (No year-round homeschooling for me this year!)
Now that June is upon us, we’re counting down the weeks until my younger sister, Julie’s wedding at the end of the month.
Yes, it’s been such a busy few months at my house!
Why I Took an Unannounced Break From Blogging
Since this spring and summer have been exceptionally busy, I felt like I had to push my writing to the sidelines for a few months.
Like I said, I’m an all-or-nothing type woman, so I gave myself permission to press pause and focus on family and ministry needs for a while.
What I should have done is let my online community know that I was taking a break.
I’m really bad about doing most of my living inside my head, and not really bothering to explain myself.
So I apologize for dropping off so abruptly, with no explanation.
Can I be honest with you?
It’s been driving me crazy that I haven’t been able to keep up with our More Productive You series the past two months.
For some reason, instead of writing smaller, simple posts (since I couldn’t squeeze in the weekly chapters) I just stopped writing altogether.
I’m having to keep the bigger picture in mind: my goal is to finish out the series by the end of 2018. Not the end of the month, right?
I plan to drop in with occasional posts (homeschool curriculum reviews, a summer-time recipe, etc) over the next few weeks.
Lord willing, I’ll be able to pick up a more regular writing pace again later this summer.
But who knows?
For now, here are a few photos of what my family has been up to since April:
A Really Big Thank You
Even though I haven’t been writing as much lately, I’ve been so blessed by the feedback I’ve heard from many lovely readers the past few months.
I so appreciate the emails, comments, and social media feedback you have been sending my way.
I’ve been especially amazed at the feedback I’ve gotten in person, from friends and even people I met while I was at various ladies’ events.
It’s always a bit humbling to realize that people I don’t even know are reading what I write.
Thank you for taking the time to speak encouraging words into my life!
There’s honestly nothing I love better than writing, so thanks for bearing with me in the many detours this blog has taken over the years.
As a busy wife and mom, I’ve learned that my blogging is secondary to many other important roles in this season of life.
I prefer for my writing to be a little more intentional and put-together (and not at all like the the post you’re reading right now).
For the time being, a casual approach is better than complete silence, right?
If you’re a subscriber to my weekly mentoring emails, I’m hoping to keep up with those over the summer months.
If you haven’t already subscribed, you can opt in to receive an email from me each Friday morning, right here.

I hope your summer is off to a beautiful and productive start!
I also hope you don’t terribly mind these super personal and chatty posts… that might be all I have time to write in the next few weeks.
Let me know what you’ve been up to lately… I’d love to hear what’s going on in your corner of the world, too.
Here’s to living and loving well-
