Welcome to part three of Monica’s mini series, Home Maintenance While Homeschooling!
Monica is guest writing for me at the blog this week while our family is on vacation, and I hope you’ve enjoyed her practical and fun homemaking tips!

Here’s part three: Keeping up with Laundry.
I am crazy enough to enjoy washing clothes but to be honest, I think it is a cross between smelling the freshness of laundry soap and having an excuse to go outside and hang out for awhile.
I mean, hang out clothes for awhile. 🙂
As much as I do enjoy washing six loads of clothes per day, my laundry room gets bad.
Real. Bad. Quick.
My greatest maintenance tip for the laundry room is every time you wash a load of towels and wash cloths, use one of the damp washcloths to wipe down the washer and dryer. It might take a minute.
Got clothes piling up?
Yeah, me too. Everywhere, it seems.
Here’s the way I keep the laundry up: Every morning, two of my children bring our two laundry baskets to the laundry room and dump out the contents in front of the washing machine. Then they proceed to go back to where the baskets were and bring the rest of the laundry that spilled over.
So, instant motivation is having Mt. Everest trip me up every time I have to walk through the laundry room (which is crucial to getting out the back door).
As soon as a load is dry, I speed-fold it and put it in a basket to keep in the laundry room until we run out of clothes. I mean, until that evening–which I have found the best time for me to put up clothes is while the kids are getting their baths. This just works for me.
Meanwhile, the laundry is neatly folded in baskets until I get the time to put them away. This keeps a laundry room looking neatish even if you have 763 items to put away later. 🙂
So, always fold your laundry as soon as it is dry–even if you cannot put it away right now. It only takes me between three to four minutes to fold a load of clothes.
How about you? Is keeping up with laundry a challenge at your house?
(Please say yes!)
