My children love to dip nearly anything they eat into some kind of dressing or sauce. Since most prepared dressings and sauces contain a lot of not-so-good-stuff, I’m trying to replace each with homemade varieties.
We tried this simple little honey mustard dip with Baked Chicken Tenders recently and it was a big hit! It only takes minutes to prepare and the taste is great.
The really nice part (for MaMa) is that I can watch my children dip away, all the while knowing they aren’t swallowing preservatives, corn syrup, and who-knows-what-else along with their meal.
To make your own homemade Sweet and Tangy Honey Mustard Sauce…
Pour into a medium glass bowl:
1/4 C raw honey (or honey of your choice)
1/4 C prepared yellow mustard
2 to 3 TBSP vanilla yogurt (you can also use plain, but the vanilla is sweeter)
1 tsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
Stir all ingredients until smooth and well combined. Pour into a small serving bowl and enjoy! Left-overs keep well in an air tight container in the fridge.
