I think my grandma gave me my first apron.
Come to think of it, MeMe probably gave me most of the aprons I’ve ever owned! New aprons, vintage aprons, aprons my great-grandmother wore in the 1930’s, aprons lovingly sewn by MeMe’s own hands…
I remember standing on a stool in my family’s home when I was about three years old, helping my mom cook and wearing a slightly-too-large apron around my waist.
My mom and grandma’s love for homemaking wove domestic skills and interest into the tapestry of my life since I was old enough to lick batter off a wooden spoon! I’ve always worn aprons, not necessarily to keep my clothes clean while I cook, but because I just love to wear them.
My sister, daughters and I have aprons of all shapes and sizes, but today I want to share about one of my favorite resources for chic, practical, and beautiful aprons- Marie-Madeline Studio.
I discovered Marie-Madeline Studio shortly after the family-owned business launched in 2007. I instantly fell in love with the feminine, brightly patterned aprons these creative ladies sold on their website!
Here’s a peek at what Marie-Madeline Studio is about–
We grew up without realizing that some people actually bought curtains and pillows, instead of making them themselves. Almost every woman in our family is or has been an artist or seamstress of some kind! When we were very little girls, we sold our handmade creations to the neighbors (who still have some of our popular potholders).
So marie-madeline studio – named after our grandmother and great-grandmother – was launched in December of 2007, with a vision for encouraging and inspiring others into making beautiful things. Our exclusive line of sewing patterns debuted that same year, and our booth at International Quilt Market won first place for merchandising in 2012!
Since then, we’ve sold fabric, notions, custom-made clothes, quilts, and more… until we came full circle back to where it all began. With sewing patterns.
We girls have grown up a lot since those first years, and now we’re branching off into our own special projects. Abi’s first book, Modern Prairie Sewing, was published last year and is available for purchase in her Etsy shop!
Most of all, we’re thankful to God for giving us each other and a gift that we can share with you!
Well, I am one of those people who actually buys curtains and pillows… and aprons. 🙂
As much as I consider myself a “domestic” homemaker, I’m no seamstress. Maybe that’s why these amazing ladies amaze me so much?
