I love, love, love to read. Sitting with my nose in a book on a rainy day (or a sunny day, for that matter) is nothing short of pure bliss.
The trouble is, I can’t exactly afford my favorite pastime. In fact, my reading list is more than my poor lil’ budget can swing! So, I “window shop” a lot at Amazon or Alibris.
Of course, there’s always the library and good friends to lend a good read, but some books I want to keep.
About a month ago, I decided to check out PaperBack Swap, an online book community, and see if I could find a few books on my “reading list”.
Here is my little stack of “freebies”, gratis Paper Back Swap.
No Greater Joy, Volumes 1 and 2, and The Green Pharmacy– yippee!!
I have nearly three dozen books on my PBS “wish list”… I can afford “free”!
The way the Swap works is beautifully simple: after creating a free account, I simply listed ten books that I was willing to part with. I received two credits to begin “purchasing” books once I had posted my first ten. For every book I send to someone who requests it, I receive one credit to “purchase” a book with.
I pay for the shipping when I send a book. I DO NOT pay shipping on books I request from others. There are thousands of books to choose from!
I honestly didn’t think I had ten books on my bookshelf that I was willing to part with. After a little digging, I found several (more than ten) that I had read and didn’t care to keep. I plan to check out our library book sales and garage sales for more books to swap.
I’m super excited about my “free” books and plan to keep swappin’!! If you’re a frugal book worm, then come on and join the fun!
What are a few books on your reading list that you’d love to find for “free”?
